Hi, I wrote about this theme some time ago. It is the silencing of endemic soundscapes that bothers me the most. Read my thoughts at: http://healthearth.blogspot.com/search/label/ecophony

Glad to have you back and apparently well recovered.
Less noise must be better but I can't imagine total silence - even underwater, apart from bubbles, ones heatbeat and blood susurration.
In the bush, the wind or birds fill the ears, sometimes it even seems that the sun makes a sound as it hammers down.

After reading this intriguing story, i have now fully realised just why and how i feel so ecstatically brilliant ( and undeniably horny!) when I'm visiting my cousin's farm at Bundanoon!!
It's the sweet sounds of nothing!
- excepting the lovely twittering of the birds, the whooshing of the long grasses, and the occasional interruptions of this blissful serenade with the semi- comforting sound of the trains passing nearby!!
I totally get why the feelings of completeness overwhelm me - and a yearning to go there as often as possible engulfs me from time to time!!
Long Live the natural noise of silence!

Bring on the silence.

If you sit very still in the bush and listen very carefully you may hear the unseen caterpillar munching a leaf, sky high swifts winging like specks above and the ants crawling on the ground.

This helps lift the blindfold of distractions from the endlessly exciting wild world that we occupy.
